Jenice Johnson Delano has been involved in real estate since she was 18, when her parents, who owned a small real estate firm in California, suggested she spend the summer studying for and obtaining a sales license. She has been personally responsible for roughly 30 property purchases or sales for family interests, and has renovated a half-dozen homes.
Before joining Brown Harris Stevens, Jenice spent more than 20 years in corporate financial management. For five years she worked for Maxtor, a billion dollar hi-tech Silicon Valley firm, primarily managing a staff in treasury functions, with responsibility for $100M in investments, a $70M line of credit, and various financial modeling and forecasting responsibilities. For another five years, Jenice worked for Scholastic, the children’s book publisher, primarily in financial modeling for acquisitions and new business opportunities, integrating new acquisitions into the Scholastic marketing model, and overhauling business management, budgeting, inventory control and other procedures for some of Scholastic’s smaller divisions. Jenice also spent ten years in increasingly responsible financial analysis positions in the sugar refining industry in New York and Philadelphia, including four years as Corporate Budget Director of Revere Sugar Corporation, a $300M company. She was also the corporate controller of a small publicly traded company, and set up finances for a multi-state family owned small publishing business.
Jenice has an MBA from New York University, which has allowed her the interesting, and sometimes enjoyable, experience of working as an adjunct professor in finance and accounting at California state colleges. She is also knowledgeable in most investment vehicles besides real estate—stocks, bonds, CD’s—particularly fixed income securities. She has experience in state and federal personal and small business taxation issues as well.
When not working, Jenice enjoys collecting Continental antiques, landscaping, and cooking. More importantly she enjoys spending time with her two sons, Bill and Ted, and husband Rick Delano.
