Jim is a member of the East Hampton office of Brown Harris Stevens. Specializing in the sale of houses, condominiums and cooperatives on the east end of Long Island, Jim has broad knowledge and experience in selling properties in East Hampton, Amagansett, Wainscott, Sagaponack, Bridgehampton and Southampton. He is particularly knowledgeable about properties in the Village of East Hampton.
Detail oriented, Jim is a hands-on broker when representing a client’s house. He believes that the listing agent is the most knowledgeable individual on the property, so he insists on being present to show and explain a house to a prospective purchaser. Jim enjoys getting to know his customers and matching them to a specific property. Referrals from friends and acquaintances and from associates in the Manhattan and Palm Beach offices of Brown Harris Stevens are a big part of his success. He first started spending weekends in East Hampton in the early 1970’s, so he has developed an impressive list of resources and contacts that are valuable to his customers and clients.
While 2008 was a difficult year for real estate in general, it is ironic that this was his most productive year. For a number of years, Jim has been a top producing Brown Harris Stevens agent in both sales and rentals.
Prior to starting his second career in real estate, Jim was an executive vice-president at Sudler & Hennessey, a division of Young & Rubicam, where he started a division specializing in healthcare communication and education. Prior to that, he was an executive in the professional services and advertising departments of Roche Laboratories, a division of Hoffmann-La Roche. Active in the community, Jim serves as a member of the board of trustees for the East Hampton Historical Society, and also served as the co-chair of the annual Holiday House Tour at Thanksgiving, a major fundraiser for the Society. Several years ago, Jim was the co-chair of a benefit to raise funds for the new Amagansett Library.
