While attending and later graduating from Boston University, Suzanne Hahn began a career in management early in life, working as Assistant Manager of the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra and later becoming Co-Founder of the Delaware Youth Symphony Orchestra. After marrying her husband Anthony, Suzanne moved to the North Fork of Long Island, where she would meet Walter Thayer, the then-chair of the International Herald-Tribune, and his wife Jeanne, a director of MoMA. Walter and Jeannie were quick to identify the ambition that ran through Suzanne’s blood and insisted that simply being a licensed real estate broker was not giving full potential to her talent. A few years later, in 1984, Suzanne opened and founded Hahn Realty in Greenport, NY. After steadily building a dominant presence on the North Fork, Suzanne acquired Marion King Realty in Cutchogue, one of the leading real estate firms on the North Fork, and incorporated the firm into Hahn Realty.
In order to continue building the presence of Hahn Realty beyond New York, in 2004 Suzanne went into a joint venture and partnership with Brown Harris Stevens. The 137 year old company, established in 1873, is one of the most successful privately owned real estate companies in the country with offices throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Palm Beach and the Hamptons. In addition to the additional real estate exposure, the joint venture included an exclusive affiliation with Christie's Great Estates, which has northeast headquarters in Rockefeller Center and offices and affiliates internationally. In 2006, Suzanne sold her remaining interest to Brown Harris Stevens and is now a significant associate broker in the firm and Director of Sales.
Beyond success in business, Suzanne contributes to local organizations and has been recognized by her peers, receiving the Realtor of the Year awards in both 1998 and 2003, as well as awards from both the New York Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. In addition, she was the co-founder and charter member of the Hamptons and North Fork Realtors Association covering the East End of Long Island, serving as a director and officer for 10 years. While the years have come and gone and the players have since changed, Suzanne's 30 years of success in the Real Estate business truly shows the test of time.
